About
From reading a room to reading a codebase
The short version of a longer story.
My training in graphic design at the KABK, and subsequent training in web development, gave me the foundations, but some of what shaped my eye for good UX didn’t happen at a desk. As a museum guide at Voorlinden and the Clingenbosch Sculpture Garden, and in gallery sales at Carré d'Artistes, my job was to read what held someone's attention and what lost it - in real time, with no undo button.
That instinct carried straight into frontend work: CMS migrations, continuous iteration on live sites, interactive kiosk experiences all the way down to simple Wordpress sites. The medium changed from a room to a screen, but the question stayed the same - does this actually work for the person in front of it?
Off the clock: yoga, cooking from scratch, hiking, reading and a running fascination with the (night) sky - aurora chasing, JWST updates, solar- and lunar eclipses and whatever's visible in a dark-sky window. Been known to dabble in writing.
Work
Selected projects
Team-based work delivered while at HappyFlow - shared here to show the scope of what I contributed to, not as solely-authored code.
HEMA - Insurance platform
Redesign, CMS migration & rebuild
Part of the team responsible for redesigning, updating and migrating HEMA's insurance site onto a CMS-based system - moving a live, customer-facing platform onto new foundations without losing what already worked.
Delivered via HappyFlow, on a team basis.
Huislijn
Ongoing frontend development
Continuous updates and frontend changes on a long-running basis, including implementing paid advertising elements - the kind of work that's less one big launch and more staying responsive to what a live site needs, week over week.
Delivered via HappyFlow, on a team basis.
Philips - Customer Experience Center
Interactive screen development
Developed interactive screens for Philips' physical customer experience centre - frontend work built for a walk-up, touch-first audience rather than a browser tab, where the interface has seconds to make sense.
Delivered via HappyFlow, on a team basis.
Currently
What I'm building now
Self-directed projects, at various stages.
Health Explainer Builder
An early-stage tool concept focused on making health communication clearer. Currently in UX research and discovery, talking to people about what the problem actually is before building anything.
